Suction Gage for Light Aircraft

Four Stage Progressive Die Designed and Made to produce the small gear shown below.  This gear is used in the Rate of Climb indicator.

Each stroke of the punch press the finished part would come out, the lower picture shows the arm used in the artificial horizon instrument in light aircraft.

This is the 4-stage progressive die used to produce the small sector gear shown above in red.  The challenge was that one of the largest gear manufacturers in Kansas said it couldn't be done because the gear was too small. (He made clock gears and small gears) But my question to him was "Why".  After 3 months working on the project, designing, and making the 4-stage progressive die it resulted in a savings of $3.15 each gear and the company made 18,000 x $3.15 - $56,700 savings

The 165 pound progressive die produced a 2-ounce gear every stroke of the punch press.
